Last year the Cheetahs announced that there is an agreement between the two sides which will see them helping each other out with players. That not only resulted in a player swap agreement, but also saw coaches heading abroad with former Springbok prop and Cheetahs scrum coach Os du Randt applying his trade in Japan.
No doubt big, burly prop Takahashi has been supervised by Du Randt specially with regards to scrum technique and the latter will feel that the Japanese heavyweight is ready to help bolster the Cheetahs scrum, which struggled at times against the Lions at Ellis Park last weekend.
The Cheetahs are yet to confirm if both Takahshi and Takada will slot in with the Super Rugby side or if they will be given game time in the coming Currie Cup to familiarize themselves with the conditions and structures.
Late last year, former Cheetahs captain, Francois Uys, jetted off to the Land of the Rising Sun to help Verblitz in the lock department, thus becoming the first player to be swopped out.
